Meet the Authors: Maria Gianferrari and Maris Wicks
We’re thrilled to welcome author/illustrator duo Maria Gianferrari and Maris Wicks to celebrate their new picture book, YOU AND THE BOWERBIRD! Follow the Satin Bowerbird as he searches for the perfect welcome mat for his new home in this delightfully colorful and action-packed nonfiction tale. Maria and Maris will discuss their book, answer audience questions, and sign books!
Maria Gianferrari is a picture book reading/writing, tea-drinking, dog-loving, birdwatching resident of Massachusetts. She lives with her scientist husband and rescue dog, Maple, in a house encircled by trees. Maria writes books that honor our bonds with creatures both domestic and wild, and that celebrate the natural world around us. Bobcat Prowling is a companion book to Maria’s other predator titles with Roaring Brook including Hawk Rising and Coyote Moon, also illustrated by Bagram Ibatoulline.
Maris Wicks lives in sunny Somerville, Massachusetts. She is the author behind Human Body Theater, as well as the illustrator of New York Times bestselling Primates, with Jim Ottaviani. Wicks has also created comics for Spongebob Comics, DC and Marvel. When Maris is not drawing comics, she can be found prepping slides for her collection of vintage microscopes.
